This listing is no longer available. _______________________________________Health Coaches are an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for improving the well-being of participants and, ultimately, contributing to “creating a healthier world one person at a time.” Health Coaches help members find the energy, motivation and information to make healthy choices every day. Coaches empower participants and their families by providing plans for them to stay healthy with daily activities, ways to keep track of their progress, rewards for their efforts and support from a community that share similar goals and interests.
The Health Coach engages with members whose lifestyles and behaviors put them at risk of developing chronic conditions or other health issues. The role of the coach is to: activate those who have not yet made positive behavior changes by providing motivation, insight and information; to assist those who are currently attempting a lifestyle change; and to serve as a source of hope and support for those who have tried and have experienced failures in the past.
This position requires a passionate, empathetic, driven individual who recognizes the impact of well-being on every aspect of an individual’s life.
Expectations
- Provide one-on-one telephonic coaching to assigned individuals seeking to achieve improved health and well-being.
- Provide individualized behavior change coaching to reduce or eliminate high-risk behaviors
- Apply evidence-based strategies and guidance in telephonic coaching sessions for adoption of specific behaviors shown effective by research to accomplish improved health and health and maintenance.
- Assist individuals in tailoring behavior goals and action steps specific to their personal needs and priorities.
- Use effective engagement skills and processes to retain participants and ensure a high level of participant satisfaction.
- Use Healthways’ coaching application efficiently to manage member caseloads effectively. Use the application, including scheduling, preparing for, and documenting coaching sessions for accurate reporting.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance and training meetings, as required.
- Coordinate with other team members and external vendors to ensure participants access the services and programs they need to optimize their well-being.
Bachelor’s Degree in health promotion, health education, nutrition, health sciences or behavioral health
Licensure not required. Advanced certifications such as CHES and ACSM preferred
Experience delivering counseling or health education and/or working with individuals directly to facilitate behavior change and improve health and well-being
Experience delivering well-being interventions over the phone preferred but not required
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required, specifically, the ability to engage in a dynamic clear conversation over the phone
Excellent keyboard and Web navigation skills, including the ability to use online applications to document accurately and concisely, while simultaneously talking on the phone
Flexibility to work with variable individual schedules across multiple time zones
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development; open to learning new and innovative ways of delivering behavioral lifestyle intervention services and dedication to continued development of behavioral coaching skills
Ability to be self-directed, highly organized, think critically and be proactive
