This listing is no longer available. _______________________________________The Financial Clinic (“the Clinic”) seeks an empathetic and dedicated Financial Coach to join its team. Financial Coaches work in lower-income neighborhoods in NYC to help individuals and families improve their financial security and achieve their financial goals. As a Financial Coach, you will help people build assets, establish and improve credit, reduce debt, and find free and low-cost bank accounts and tax preparation. The position will involve working at several sites around New York City throughout the week, and may involve significant commuting time. Limited weekend or evening hours may be required.
Responsibilities
Hold 20 meetings per week with lower-income New Yorkers, helping them combat financial insecurity.’
Record customer information and meeting progress data precisely, accurately, and on time.
Facilitate Financial Coaching workshops to small groups of customers, on occasion.
Tell engaging customer success stories, verbally and in writing.
Contribute to www.change-machine.org, the Clinic’s social enterprise and all-in-one Financial Coaching platform
Maintain good relationships with partner organizations of The Financial Clinic, and be open to forming relationships with new coaching sites or referral partners.
Requirements
B.A. or B.S. demonstrating rigorous coursework and achievement.
Two years’ professional experience (ideally in a related field such as coaching/counseling, sales, or finance).
Self starting–You do whatever needs to be done (and more) with little supervision.
Superb written and verbal communication skill, and strong interpersonal skills
Exceptional organization and process management (i.e. starting multi-step projects and seeing them through to completion).
Bottom-line focus–You should be excited about working at a goal-driven and quantitative organization.
Proficiency with Google and Microsoft suites (e.g. Google docs and MS Excel).
(Preferred) Proficiency in a second language (especially Spanish and Mandarin Chinese).
