    What the role involves is…
    • working with colleagues across a variety of agencies to develop an New Zealand State services approach, techniques and a toolkit for Continuous Improvement
    • working within agencies to help them provide ‘proof of concept’ – making sure the initiatives implemented actually work
    •  helping executive teams develop plans to embed and sustain Continuous improvement processes – both within their own agencies and across others
    • providing development and coaching to others, to develop Continuous improvement capability across Public Services.

    Health Advocate seeks a motivated professional to provide telephone/internet wellness coaching and support to members requesting assistance with developing and implementing individualized wellness plans.  Must be comfortable providing guidance to memebers to improve their health through lifestyle changes related to nutrition, physical activity, chronic conditions, tobacco cessation and stress management.

    Responsibilities include:

    • In response to member’s health assessment and/or biometric screening results, coach and problem solve with member to identify and address specific goal (s) to support health and behavior change.
    • Provide health education and coaching services telephonically, electronically and via instant message.
    • Identify members in need of additional services and making appropriate referrals
    • Conduct research on topics related to health promotion and disease prevention to meet member’s needs.
    • Utilize key coacking skills including motivational interviewing and appreciative inquiry to encourage positive behavior change by member.
    • Utilize approved health education resources to achieve more effective wellness outcomes.
    • Manage case load, minitor deadlines and maintain accurate calendar for member outreach.

    Desired Skills & Experience

     

    • Minimum of 1 year experience in a health or wellness related field.
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field (health education, nutrition, exercise physiology) required.
    • Master’s degree preferred
    • Previous Coaching and motivational interviewing experience a plus.
    • Content knowledge of chronic conditions, exercise, nutrition and weight management essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Insightful with regard to human behavior witht he ability to foster relationship building and meet members at their level of need
    • Must be sensitive to and adept at working with individuals of all ethnicities, ages, and socioeconomic groups
