The Chicago office is seeking a Transition Assistance Coach who will aid attorneys, alumni and friends of the firm in their job search efforts. The Transition Coach will be an integral part of the Transition Assistance program managing day to day activities, working with clients on resume development, interview prep, salary negotiation coaching, networking best practices and more. The Transition Coach will also be responsible for tracking program metrics, developing meaningful resources for an effective job search and integrating these offerings into the greater Alumni Engagement Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist attorneys and alumni with the development of relevant self-marketing materials such as resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile etc.
• Outreach to legal industry recruiters to post positions to the Kirkland alumni website and to help network on behalf of our attorneys, alumni and friends of the firm
• Under the direction of the Firmwide Alumni Engagement Leader, manage relationships and partner with the Outplacement Agencies with whom we contract: negotiating fees, refining offerings, etc.
• Provide networking guidance and assistance for alumni, attorneys, friends of the firm
• Conduct competency assessments: MBTI, or other leadership competency assessments to aid in perfecting the job search strategy
• Conduct one on one coaching sessions to gauge individual needs of each TA “client” and help them advance through their search until placement
• Interview prep and skill development for “clients” as needed
• Salary benchmarking and negotiation coaching
• Work with Firmwide Alumni Engagement Leader to further develop the Transition Assistance program, offerings, and specific tools
• Aid in content development for marketing materials highlighting the TA program
• Present TA program metrics, offerings, successes to internal stakeholders and leadership
• Research and analyze employment trends, specifically in the legal industry, nationally and globally
• Conduct workshops/webcasts on resume creation, leveraging social media for the job search, interviewing and other job search skills

Desired Skills and Experience
Team work, ownership of assigned work and outstanding commitment to excellence are essential for this position. Additionally, the ideal candidate would possess these qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher
• 12-15+ years of work experience
• Career coaching experience necessary, including executive level coaching
• Advanced coaching certifications strongly desired
• Recruiting experience strongly desired
• Legal industry experience preferred
• Ability to administer and analyze self-assessments such as MBTI. Certification desired.
• Knowledge of US and International legal job board aggregates
• Flexibility in regard to hours, (some clients may be international)

Other Requirements:
• Excellent communication (written and oral), listening, multi-tasking and organizational skills
• Ability to develop strong relationships and trust with coaching clients
• A natural ability to make clients feel cared about
• Strong sense of empathy, positive outlook, and ability to motivate others

Technical competencies will include:
Technology plays an important role in the execution of team deliverables. Candidates are expected to work with in the following tools:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Working knowledge of SharePoint
• Oracle/Selectminds experience is a plus
