The mission of the Engineering Leadership Program is to develop engineering students into powerful leaders who take on our world’s biggest challenges with knowledge, skill, insight and courage. We achieve this through experiential seminars, credit-bearing courses, leadership content integrated with existing engineering classes, the Engineering Leadership Certificate Program, and individual and team coaching. Because we believe great leadership development engages the heart and the mind, we emphasize empirically derived knowledge combined with personal inquiry and growth.

We invite applications for the Nancy and Bob Selander Associate Director of the Engineering Leadership Program. The Associate Director will contribute to engineering students’ teamwork and leadership skills, personal development, and professional readiness through innovative experiential programming. He or she will be expected to co-lead the Engineering Leadership Certification Program, and will be responsible for the design and execution of other curricular and co-curricular initiatives. A significant aspect of this position is coaching individual students and teams on their personal and professional development. This position will work closely with the program Director, faculty, students, and alumni to identify opportunities for integrating leadership content into the Cornell University engineering curriculum and ensuring the relevance of our offerings.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance.

Qualifications:

We seek candidates with advanced degrees in Engineering, Science, Education, Social Science or related field with a minimum of 5 years related experience in higher education administration, engineering, or a technology-related field.  Coaching experience is required; coach certification through a program recognized by the International Coach Federation is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have experience delivering or participating in the development, delivery, and/or implementation of leadership programs. We seek proven ability to interact productively with all levels of staff, faculty, students, alumni, and corporate and foundation stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work well collaboratively and independently is critical.  Supervisory experience helpful.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Weekend and evening hours necessary during peak program times.
